Nirvana accepts their induction into the Rock Hall of fame, 2014.
The show opened with a video with Kurt speaking and with ‘Lithium’ playing. Michael Stipe speaks about the band. ‘Drain You’ plays as the members of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain’s family members and Courtney Love come onto the stage to accept their awards. They speak with Dave Grohl thanking past drummers, Krist Novoselic thanking past producers/engineers for their albums and Courtney Love thanking members of Kurt’s family and hugs Dave Grohl. Everyone misses Kurt Cobain.
The band launches into ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ with Joan Jett on vocals, Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth is on vocals for ‘Aneurysm’ and Anne Clark is on vocals for ‘Lithium.’ Lorde takes the stage as their last special guest performing ‘All Apologies’ with everyone. They leave for the after party.
what made the performances so badass is that no one tried to sound like Kurt. every one went up there and sang and played the way they always have and the confidence that it took to stand up there and do your own thing with someone else’s song in tribute is the epitome of badass
